HLTAID010 PROVIDE BASIC EMERGENCY LIFE SUPPORT
This Basic Emergency Life Support course is designed for individuals who may need to provide an emergency first aid response in various situations, including community and workplace settings. It targets those who do not require a full First Aid Certificate but still need essential first aid skills.
Course Contents
- Apply the principles of Basic Emergency Life Support
- Perform a basic emergency care management assessment
- Apply Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques
- Unpacking and applying a defibrillator
- Understand the Chain of Survival
- Address choking and airway obstruction
- Treatment of wounds, shock, and non-life-threatening bleeding
- Manage asthma and anaphylaxis
- Recognize and respond to cardiac arrest
- Conduct a risk assessment
Assessment:
The First Aid Course includes both theoretical and practical assessment components. Participants must complete a pre-course learning module for the theory portion.
The Practical Assessment involves a formal evaluation of skills, including CPR training. Please note that all participants must demonstrate the ability to perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an infant and an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor with correct technique to be marked as competent.
