HLTAID011 First Aid Course

The Provide First Aid course (HLTAID011) is the industry standard and Nationally Recognised First Aid course in Australia, approved by the AQF, designed for both the general public and workplaces that require first aid-trained staff. 


In this Provide First Aid course, participants will learn essential skills to manage emergencies and provide care for patients experiencing common illnesses and injuries. 


Course Contents: 


- First Aid Principles 

- Basic Life Support 

- Infection Control & Hygiene 

- Legal Aspects of First Aid 

- Incident approach and management 

- Patient assessment 

- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 

- Automated External Defibrillation (AED) 

- Choking and airway obstruction 

- Bleeding Control 

- Shock 

- Crush Injuries 

- Needle Stick Injuries 

- Ear & Eye injuries 

- Abdominal Injuries 

- Burns and Scalds 

- Head, Neck & Spinal injuries 

- Fractures, Dislocations & Soft Tissue Injuries 

- Medical conditions – asthma, diabetes, epilepsy & seizures 

- Allergic reactions & Anaphylaxis 

- Heat and cold emergencies 

- Drowning 

- Cardiac Conditions 

- Stroke 

- Poisoning & Envenomation 


Assessment: 


The Provide First Aid course includes both theoretical and practical assessment components. Participants must complete a pre-course learning module for the theoretical portion. 


The practical assessment involves: 


- Performing CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position) 

- Performing CPR on an infant 

- Managing a casualty with anaphylaxis 

- Managing a casualty with asthma 

- Managing a choking casualty 

- Managing a casualty with life-threatening bleeding and shock, including basic wound cleaning for minor bleeds 

- Managing a casualty with a nosebleed 

- Managing a casualty with a fracture and dislocation 

- Managing a casualty with a sprain and strain 

- Managing a casualty with envenomation (snake/funnel-web spider bite) 


This course is provided as a co-provider in partnership with HEALTHGUARD First Aid Training Services RTO# 21156.
